One of my Favorite Authors

I’ve only read two of Emily McKay’s books (Perfectly Saucy and Her Wildest Dreams), but she’s way up there on my list of favorite authors.

Ms. McKay is a talented author…the woman can write! Her books are also very sexy :) But the thing I love the most about her books are the characters. They are just so lovable.

If you haven’t read one of her books yet, go buy one!

Favorite Quotes

Someone made the remark recently that I have a quote for every situation. That’s not true, because some events or situations simply leave me speechless. But, I do have a tendency to remember quotes. Unfortunately, I also have difficulty remembering who said them :)

From time to time I’ll be sharing some of my favorite quotes, and hopefully will be able to give credit to the proper person for them.

“Act like you got some raising.” -- Isn’t that just one of the most southern phrases you've ever heard? I have no clue who was the first person to use this phrase, but I can tell you that my grandmother said this to me often. Now I say it to my children, and I imagine someday they’ll say it to their children.

“It is no sin to attempt and fail. The only sin is not to make the attempt.” -- Suellen Fried

“I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.” -- Jimmy Dean

If you have a favorite quote, I’d love to hear it!

And the winner is….

A huge thanks to everyone who participated in my blog contest/drawing. I really enjoyed reading your comments, and I hope you’ll continue to visit my blog and share your thoughts on other subjects.

I had my youngest son draw a name out of the hat, and the winner is…. Loribelle Hunt from Alabama.

Congrats, Loribelle. A one-pound box of Godiva chocolates is en route to you. Enjoy!

Please remember to check my website periodically for information about upcoming contest.

RWA National Conference

I just returned from the RWA (Romance Writers of America) National Conference, which was held this year in Atlanta, GA. There were tons of workshops, publisher spotlights (where editors discuss the types of stories that they’re currently seeking), booksignings, luncheons, award presentations, etc. And for brave souls, editor and agent appointments to pitch your manuscript(s).

This was my first time attending the conference. It was exhausting and frankly a little overwhelming. There was so much to do and not enough time to squeeze it all in.
