Tattoos--Sexy or Not?

and in the small there of your back
your jeans are playing peek a boo
I’d like to see the other half
of your butterfly tattoo

Those are part of the lyrics of the song "Ticks" by Brad Paisley. If you haven’t heard this song, seek it out. It is too cute! Just be aware that it is a country song, so if you have an aversion to country music…

So, my question of the day is: What’s your opinion on tattoos? Sexy or not?

I think they’re sexy, provided that they’re not in places that aren’t normally covered by clothing (face, hands, etc), they aren’t huge, and a person doesn’t have an excessive number of tattoos (one or two is plenty). That’s just my opinion though.

I have a female character in a story I’m working on that I want to give a tattoo. She’s very conservative, and anyone who knows her would be surprised to find out that she has one. So, it needs to be something small and in a place where people wouldn’t normally see it. If you have any suggestions, feel free to toss them out there!

I personally have never been fond of tattoos. Our daughter who was 23 got a tattoo a couple of years ago. She has a butterfly on her very lower back. You can only see it when she wears her bikini. I know tattoos are the in thing right now but I wasn't thrilled she got one.

I can't stand tattoo. Just look at the people around that got them when they were young and now things are sagging including the tattoo. Started on the chest and is now on the stomach.

I am not a supporter of tattoos. The main reason is they lead to more and more, once you get one. I have seen some cute ones, placed correctly. I just couldn't put one on my body. I knew a lady who had the bird from (snoppy i think). The bird is called Woodstock. She had it just above her left breast, not low but a tank top you could see it, it was cute as heck!

A small , tiny tattoo that is not overbearing can be cute, but those entire lower back tatoos will be make one regret it in their fifties. Not so sexy then.

Tatoo's are okay but one should be very sure that they want it for a lifetime, also think of how it will look if you get old and wrinkled where it is as that might change cute to well you know. Will you want to take a job where said tatoo will not be welcome and cause people to think less of you? It is far easier not to get one than to go through pain of having it removed plus the scarring that can follow. How would your tatoo look in an evening gown or tux, how about in a bathing suit all things to consider. Starryann2000@yahoo.com

I think they're sexy as hell as long as the design is tasteful, but I don't agree about being covered by clothing. I like the idea of it being my own personal secret, one that I share with my husband. I want my next one to be on the small of my back, which (for me) would be a "for my husband only" spot. I also want to get a small one with my son's name. My existing tat is a yin yang, which symbolizes my relationship with my husband. If I can get a cool-looking one with my son's name, I'll have tats of the things that are most important to me in this world.

I love my tattoo. As Judy said however, they lead to more and more. They're addicting! *LOL* I'd get more if my husband wouldn't throw such a fit about it.

I agree with the person who posted anonymously too. You must want it for a lifetime. My tattoo was finally inked after 17 years of desiring one greatly. It is something that the artist designed especially for me so it is unique just to me. I can't imagine not having it now.
